It is my great pleasure to introduce tannenboing, the modern, aluminum Christmas tree. If you have ever been confounded decorating with contemporary, reusable holiday décor, then you already know half of tannenboing’s story.
For years my husband and I tried to find a contemporary, reusable Christmas tree that would fit into our modern home, be easy to store and decorate. Plastic trees, made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and shipped from China, didn’t appeal to our aesthetic or ethics. For many years, our solution was neither cheerful nor grand; it was a potted Norfolk Pine that my family dubbed the, “Charlie Brown Christmas tree.”
After conceiving the original idea of a spiral, aluminum tree, I consulted with an industrial designer, a mechanical engineer, and several metalsmiths. Nearly two years and thirty (recycled) prototypes later, I’m so pleased to offer tannenboing – a truly modern, aluminum Christmas tree – for you to enjoy for years to come.
I love the sleek, aluminum lines – it really looks and feels like a piece of art. And it is so easy to disassemble and store at the end of the season. We can flat-pack our Christmas tree away in about 15 minutes – it packs away into a four foot by three inch box (our giant “pizza” box) and gets slipped up into the attic until next year.
